Jemima's Kitchen at Victoria House

cafe and tea rooms

A few things have changed since we were last open so here are the guidelines for you to follow when you visit Jemima's Kitchen to ensure your safety and that of other customers and our staff during the coronavirus pandemic.

As best we can manage, we have a one-way system in operation. Entry is through the door in the side passage at 48 High Street and exit is through the front door of the café.

You will be taken to your table after providing your contact details which we will hold for 21 days under the requirements of the Government’s Test and Trace programme. You are not obliged to provide these details, so if you do not wish to give us this information, you are quite welcome to order a takeaway.

Please do not change the layout of the tables and chairs at your table or remove chairs from other tables. They have been placed in this position to maximise the number of customers we can service while maintaining appropriate social distancing. If a high chair is required, please ask a member of staff.

Unless you are sitting in the garden, we offer full table service. We will bring you menus, take your order, deliver your food, cutlery and condiments to you, and bring your bill. Once you have received your bill, you can pay this on your way out.

If you are seated in the garden, please use our back ‘window’ to place your order. Once your food and/or drinks are prepared, we will bring them to you with your cutlery and condiments. We will also bring you your bill which can be paid on your way out.

(We are looking to get a wifi enabled card machine but currently our card machine is situated in the passageway by our front desk.)

We are encouraging contactless payments, but we are still taking cash, and we will be temporarily suspending the use of loyalty cards.

We cannot oversee the toilets the whole time so please sanitise your hands on entry to the public toilet and fully wash your hands after using the toilet. The toilet will be cleaned every hour.

These rules are new to us, so please be patient while we adapt to the ‘new normal’ and please let us know if there is anything we can do to improve your visit the next time you visit.
